Meloneras Golf Course was opened to play in June 2006 and is situated in Meloneras Bay in the south of the Gran Canaria Island. This 18 hole course is unique with 9 holes offering mountain view and the other 9 have the sea view, out of which 3 are on the shore. Ron Kirby the American golf architect has designed the course to amalgamate with the natural beauty of the countryside. Meloneras Golf is a fraction of the Lopesan Group, which has several hotels, golf and other entertainment interests all over the world. Lopesan Hotels & Resorts is also one of the main groups which is working for the development of the Meloneras resort area in Gran Canaria.

Every hole has been designed with 4 tees, which makes it very convenient for golfers of all levels and as you progress the holes get more demanding. The course is about 520,000 square meters in area and meanders through the lakes and palm trees. This Par 71 Parkland golf course is designed just adjacent to the ocean with the harbor of Pasito Blanco on one side and the Canary Mountains on the other. The natural topography has been maintained all through the golf course.

Meloneras Golf is quite an exceptional course with two very contrasting loops of nine holes characterized on this the championship course. Front nine which are comparatively easier are resort-style and offer scenic mountain panorama from its moderately open and uneven terrain. The course has been designed to get tougher as you progress through the holes and the idea behind is that the golfer gets more confident about the course and it should remain challenging.

There are some excellent hotels on the island very close to the Meloneras golf course and the Maspalomas beach and sand dunes and only 15 minutes drive from the course. There are three other golf courses in this region making it a perfect base for your golf holiday on Gran Canaria.
